Capital Rowing Club invites you to the first annual Anacostia Sprints, a rowing regatta for DC-area scholastic teams and independent junior clubs.

On Saturday, April 21, 2018, middle and high school rowers from throughout the region will meet at the Anacostia Community boathouse for a day of service and racing.

In celebration of Earth Day, Capital is partnering with the Anacostia Watershed Society to organize cleanup activities around the bioswale surrounding the boathouse.

Following the riverfront cleanup, the rowers will convene for an afternoon of racing along the Anacostia River. It’s the Year of the Anacostia, and we are delighted to share our wonderful river with you!

Capital Rowing Club is a longtime steward of the Anacostia River. Originally housed at Thompson Boat Center on the Potomac River, the club became a founding member of the original Anacostia Community Boathouse and moved to 1115 M Street SE in 1995. In 2011, the club moved to the new Anacostia Community Boathouse at 1900 M Street SE as part of the 11th Street Bridge reconstruction project. Each year, Capital brings hundred of rowers and supporters to the Anacostia riverfront through its comprehensive and inclusive rowing programming and through its three regattas. Its newest regatta -- Anacostia Sprints -- will bring together middle and high school rowers from across the DC region to celebrate and enjoy the riverfront and river parks, to teach the community more about the river's ecosystem, and to demonstrate to rowers and spectators how they can participate in safe and sustainable recreation on the river.
