Join us for a fun day of volunteering to celebrate Earth Month!
The Anacostia Watershed Society (AWS) and One Tree Planted are seeking volunteers to assist with a Wetland Restoration Workday in the wetlands by Kingman Island. The goal of the project is to restore the wetlands to their natural role as filters for pollution and sediment, and habitat for wildlife, as part of the larger goal of making the Anacostia River swimmable and fishable by 2025. Volunteers will plant native wetland plants and should be prepared to work in mucky mud and water, but waders and gloves will be provided.
