Wetland Restoration Workday at Kingman Marsh

Wetland Restoration Workday at Kingman Marsh

From 09/21/22 10:00 am until 09/21/22 12:00 pm

At Driving Range Parking Lot of the Langston Golf Course Categories: Work Days and Clean Ups

During this Wetland Restoration Workday, volunteers will help the Anacostia Watershed Society (AWS) to remove the invasive wetland plant Phragmites, also known as common reed, from the wetlands in Kingman Lake by the Langston Golf Course. Dense areas of Phragmites in the wetlands decrease the biodiversity and quality of wetland habitat, as they often outcompete the native wetland plants. We will mechanically remove the Phragmites by cutting and pulling during this event to prevent expansion.
