Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens presents "WELLderness: An Outdoor Wellness Series" bringing FREE fitness classes, fine art workshops, and other sessions to the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens during the summer and fall months.
Who: Priority registration is for residents East of the River (Wards 7 & 8)
What you will be doing:
Tai Chi is a meditative martial art which provides health benefits and can assist in overcoming medical challenges. Register for this class to learn in a small group setting on a summer morning. This class will be led by Darrell Fogan.
Participants should bring a water bottle, snack, bug spray, sun protection (sunscreen/block, hat, sunglasses), and/or anything else one may carry when spending time outdoors.
When: Friday, August 6, 2021 at 5:00pm. Check-in at 4:45pm. The park will close at 8:00pm.
Where: Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave Northeast, Washington, DC 20019. Participants will meet by the entrance trail at the parking lot.
Getting There: By car, there is a large visitors parking lot at the park entrance on Anacostia Ave and abundant street parking surrounding the park. By Metro, the park entrance is a 1.0 mile walk from the Deanwood Metro Station and 1.3 miles from the Minnesota Ave Station, both on the Orange Line. By foot or bike, access the park via the Anacostia River Trail.
**Masks are optional for all participating. However, space remains limited to allow for social distancing among attendees and other park visitors.**
About the Instructor: Darrell Fogan is the owner of Metro Wellness Institute Inc. This DC-based fitness and health company is dedicated to providing CPR, first aid, Tai Chi, and private swimming lessons to people across the country.
