Volunteer Event at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens

Join the Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens with a day of volunteer service at the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens! This incredible National park site showcases historic ponds with spectacular water lilies and lotus, tidal marsh and habitat for abundant wildlife. Join to protect, restore and promote this jewel along the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C.

WHEN: Saturday, June 23rd, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Registration opens at 8:30 am, please arrive no later than 8:45 am. We will meet up at the maintenance yard within the park.

WHERE: Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave Northeast, Washington, DC 20019. By Car: Enter the park at the Anacostia Ave entrance to access the free visitors parking lot. By Metro: Kenilworth is accessible via the Deanwood Metro stop (orange line)

WHAT: Volunteers will work in the ponds thinning water lilies, prepping and mulching garden beds, clearing invasive weeds or performing other necessary park projects. The event will run rain or shine—please dress accordingly and plan to work outside.

BRING WITH YOU: Be prepared to work outside! Wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, and long-sleeved shirts. Please also bring your own water bottle and sunscreen.

OTHER: We encourage families and students to join us. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone, parent or guardian with a 3:1 ratio. This event is eligible for Student Service Learning (SSL) hours.
