The WABA Trail Ranger Team and Women & Bicycles program are joining Living Classrooms for a trail cleanup! Both WABA and Living Classrooms have been working on keeping the Benning Road sidewalk on the Anacostia River Trail clear of invasive honeysuckle. This year, we are upping our game and getting the honeysuckle at its base!

Join us for 3 hours of outdoor time sawing and ripping honeysuckle from the ground at Kingman Island with the trained invasives plant team of Living Classrooms. After a satisfyingly dramatic reduction in honeysuckle on Kingman Island, we’ll head to a nearby coffee shop via a short trail ride of the Anacostia River Trail to grab some snacks and talk about trails, trail maintenance and why we remove certain plants from the trail corridors.

We’ll bring the tools and gloves necessary. Please bring a water bottle, bike lock, money for coffee if you wish and wear long pants and closed toed shoes that are appropriate for work outside.

When riding to the coffee shop, we will be covered by WABA’s insurance so bike helmets are required. Read more about our ride policy here.

Please note: This event is for women, femme, and women-identifying persons as it is hosted through WABA's Women & Bicycles program.
