Celebrate National Park Week! The Anacostia Watershed Society will provide a free boat tour while a Park Ranger will join the trip to provide information about Anacostia Park and its upcoming Centennial celebration.

Although Anacostia Park has been a park for 100 years and part of the National Park Service since 1933, many visitors are unaware of the importance of the park to our nation’s history. The twilight boat tour blends history and ecology in an entertaining narrative that stretches from the Ice Age to the present day. Rangers will regale visitors with stories of the geology, explorers, naturalists and Civil Rights leaders that shaped the course of the river that flows through the Nation’s Capital.
