The opening of the Anacostia River Tunnel System is an immense milestone for the Anacostia River, and one of the reasons that 2018 is the Year of the Anacostia. Please join DC Water and many others for the Grand Opening of this major project.

Join us to celebrate a cleaner Anacostia River!

DC Water's Clean Rivers Project is celebrating the commissioning of the first phase of the Anacostia River Tunnel System. The tunnel, which is 23 feet inside diameter and more than 7 miles long, holds more than 100 million gallons and is designed to reduce combined sewer overflows to the Anacostia by approximately 80%. The project also includes a new 225 million gallon per day Wet Weather Treatment Facility at Blue Plains. Join us for this important milestone in improving the Anacostia River.
